Ditch the social media rule book
I wrote these notes in my phone whilst sitting at this exact beach… Take note, this is your permission slip.
I was feeling incredibly overwhelmed – work life, mum life, wife life, reno life. It was like there were too many “tabs open in my brain”. I found myself darting from one thought to another, thinking “What was my next social media post going to look like, what was it going to educate my audience on, how far in advance would I schedule”. All of which is very important, but in fact this message is probably one of the most significant pieces I have written to date.
My hope, that that this finds someone that needed to hear this.
// Low engagement and/or views doesn’t equate to reduced connection — if it connects with ONE PERSON then it is worth it.
// The best time to post is when is best for YOU. When you are feeling called to share, what suits your routine, and what is sustainable long term?
// It is okay to want to grow a following, but it doesn’t have to be huge, it just has to be authentic.
// You DO NOT need to be an “expert” to be a leader. Present yourself authentically, embrace your limits, and learn along the way.
// Avoid becoming overly engrossed in metrics. Stay focused on genuine influence.
// Embrace the freedom to set aside your phone. You won’t miss anything, I promise.
